Pusat Jagaan Jed ~ 11th day!!!

13th December 2012

Another unpleasant day. I went to home care as usual. No doctor appointments on that day. We stayed at home care chit-chatting with the patients, prepare lunch for them and so on. After took their lunch and medications, all the patients went to their rooms to take rest. Myself with three other workers was sitting at the living room. There came the guy who sells bread for the home care. Mr. Sunther called a patient who is responsible to keep the bread and prepare breakfast every morning. Some of the patients in the home care have been given certain responsibilities of work like help to prepare breakfast, prepare lunch and dinner, do gardening and so on. Mr. Sunther called him many times but he never turn up. After took the breads and kept it in the dry kitchen he went to see what he is doing. The patient was unconscious on his bed. The other patients thought he was sleeping. We tried to give first aid but it never helps. Mr. Sunther called Dr. Bala to inform the situation meanwhile i rush to start the car. We rushed him to the hospital. At the emergency, the medical officers helped us to carry him out from the car as the patient is big in size. He was given treatment at the critical zone and was under observation. The doctor on duty told us they suspected stroke or mild attack but they cannot confirm it, they are waiting for the blood report. We waited 4 hours at the hospital. Mr. Raman who was on night duty on that day came together with Dr. Bala to hospital. Dr. Bala talked with the doctor on duty regarding the patient condition. The doctor said he is fine, all the report is good and suggested to admit him in the ward to observe his health condition for 3 days. Dr. Bala asked to admit him in the psychiatric ward as the patient had a record of abscond from hospital before came to our home care. But the doctor did not accepted the request. Dr. Bala asked to discharge the patient and in case of emergency we will send him to hospital immediately. We discharged the patient and took him back.
